Ogier Stephane

The Domaine Stephane Ogier is a winemaking reality in the Northern Rhône, committed for seven generations to offering all the elegance and expressive depth of the wines of the territory. Located in Ampuis, in the heart of the production area of the famous Côte-Rôtie, since 1997 the family business has been expertly led by Stephane, who after studying Viticulture and Oenology in Beaune, Burgundy, took over from his father Michel with the firm intention of nurturing the long history and tradition of the area. Until 1982, Michel used to sell grapes to major local producers such as Chapoutier and Guigal, while starting from 1987 the entire production began to be vinified and bottled within the Domaine.

The vineyards of the Stephane Ogier estate extend over 20 hectares, managed with precision and meticulous care, limiting the yields of grapes per hectare. The varietal park includes the traditional Syrah and Viognier, along with some vines of Grenache Noir, Carignan, Roussane, Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Borboulenc cultivated in the area of the Côtes du Rhône. The plots are distributed in some of the most prestigious crus of the entire Côte-Rôtie, such as Lancement, Côte-Rozier, Côte-Blonde, and La Viallière, where the soils consist of classic granite, with the presence of gneiss and schist in some sub-zones. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand with a double selection of grapes, one in the vineyard and one in the cellar, followed by strictly parcel-based vinifications based on spontaneous fermentations in stainless steel tanks, concrete vats, or wooden barrels at controlled temperature, in order to preserve the freshness and aromas of the wine. For aging, French oak barrels are used, with a well-calibrated use of new wood.

a part of the experience of Stephane in the noble Côte d'Or.
