Tenuta il Nespolo

Tenuta il Nespolo tells the story of a return to one’s roots, in Moasca, a village nestled halfway between the Langa Astigiana and Monferrato. Here, where Luca as a child watched his grandfather run a multifaceted farm of vineyards and apple orchards, the seed of a project was planted—one that today shines with awareness and identity. After studying at the Enological School of Alba and earning a degree in Viticulture in Turin, interspersed with years of consultancy work as an agronomist, Luca chose in 2019 not to renew his external contracts and instead return home, taking back the keys to his family estate. What was once a business focused on selling grapes and bulk wine has been transformed into a winery named after the medlar tree at its entrance, a silent witness to time and its transformations.

Tenuta il Nespolo’s production philosophy follows the fine line of “cunisiun”—Piedmontese common sense—applied with rigor across its fifteen hectares. In the vineyard, the work is rooted in respect for the land and those who live it, using organic fertilization and targeted green manures to nourish calcareous and clay soils. The winemaking process includes long macerations and extended aging on fine lees for both whites and reds, favoring steel, concrete, and third-passage barriques to preserve the purity of the juice.

The wines of Tenuta il Nespolo are born from a land that imparts deep balsamic notes and vibrant structure. Barbera, shaped by tuff and dark soils, stands out for its complex aromatic profile, where crisp fruit gives way to herbal nuances and a sharp freshness. Moscato, on the other hand, expresses remarkable finesse, revealing a captivating mineral soul. Alongside these flagship varieties, grapes such as Chardonnay, Favorita, and Freisa thrive in sandy micro-areas, offering clean and authentic interpretations. Each sip reveals a perfect balance, making these wines versatile companions for shared, convivial moments.
