Tenuta Maso Corno
Tenuta Maso Corno is the reality of Giulio Larcher, a young wine producer who bases his winemaking philosophy on the constant search for quality, always respecting the characteristics of the Trento DOC territory, where the winery is located. We are precisely within the municipality of Ala, on the Trentino side of the Lessini Mountains, a place where in 2006, after purchasing 5 hectares of vineyards located around an ancient farmhouse, Giulio embarked on this adventure following his passion.
The Tenuta Maso Corno vineyard-farm is located in the southern part of the Trento DOC area, where the mitigating influence of Lake Garda is more pronounced, contributing year after year to the optimal ripening of the grapes. Here Giulio Larcher cultivates the noble varieties Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, excellent grapes for sparkling wine production, alongside Sauvignon Blanc, a grape variety he uses in the production of still wines. The plants grow on dolomitic-limestone soils at an altitude ranging from 500 to 800 meters above sea level, with full east exposure. To always maintain a high quality level, Giulio limits the yields of grapes and harvests entirely by hand, making scrupulous selections of the bunches. In the winery, a soft pressing of the grapes is first carried out, while the actual winemaking mainly takes place in stainless steel tanks, although Chardonnay is often processed in French oak barriques. The subsequent sparkling process takes place in the bottle according to the Classic Method, associated with prolonged aging on the lees, at the end of which the sparkling wines undergo disgorging without subsequent dosage, thus avoiding altering the purest identity of the wine.
Today the quality of Giulio Larcher's sparkling wines is recognized both in Italy and abroad, a factor that has allowed Tenuta Maso Corno to enter important markets, such as the Russian, Japanese, and Dutch markets. These bubbles are appreciated for their fresh and refined style, always characterized by a incisive mineral vein.
