Tenuta Meraviglia
Tenuta Meraviglia is a stunning reality in the Bolgheri area, one of the most famous and prestigious wine regions in Tuscany. It is a property of the group headed by Argentine entrepreneur Alejandro Bulgheroni. A great wine enthusiast, a few years ago he decided to invest in Tuscany in the Chianti area with the renowned Tenuta Dievole and in Montalcino with Poggio Landi. In 2016, he acquired Tenuta Le Colonne in Bolgheri. The estate consisted of two distinct bodies: a plot near the coast and another located further north, in an area that rises towards the hilly area of the denomination. This second part of the property was separated to create a new winery: Tenuta Meraviglia.
Tenuta Meraviglia boasts 34 hectares of vineyards, of which about 11 are dedicated to the production of Bolgheri Doc wines. The property is set in a landscape of extraordinary beauty and charm, characterized by a still wild and unspoiled nature. The vineyards are in an ideal position, just a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian coast, on the first hills of the hilly area that runs parallel to the coast in the first Bolgheri hinterland. The climate is particularly mild and sweet, thanks to wonderful sunny and bright exposures, predominantly facing west. The constant presence of the sea breeze acts as a natural temperature regulator, ensuring excellent ripening of the grapes.
From a soil perspective, the Bolgheri area features rather heterogeneous and complex soils. In the Pianali area, located at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level, there are lands with a rich sandy component, of ancient volcanic origin, poor and very draining. Unlike the more famous areas of classical Tuscany, always dedicated to the cultivation of Sangiovese, due to the particular pedoclimatic conditions, the Bolgheri area has proven perfect for hosting especially French red grape varieties originating from Bordeaux. Among the rows, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and the white grape varieties Vermentino and Viognier find their place. All the vineyards are managed under organic farming practices, in order to obtain healthy and genuine grapes.
