The Thames Distillery is located in the heart of London and produces a wide range of gins, from classic versions to more original and innovative interpretations. It was created in 1996, although the recent date of birth should not be misleading as its founder, Charles Maxwell, is a master distiller with eight generations of expertise behind him. It is an independent distillery, which, thanks to its long experience, has specialised in the creation of new gin recipes, without abandoning the great classics of the London tradition, still today among the most loved by enthusiasts for their elegance and balance of perfumes and aromas.
The Thames Distillery has a profound knowledge of the art of Gin production, which is still carried out using carefully selected ingredients. The base alcohol is produced by distilling grain and is then re-distilled together with the botanicals to extract the maximum aromas. The distillation process is carried out using two small stainless steel stills nicknamed Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, which guarantee a final product of great finesse. Great attention is paid to the selection of botanicals. The Thames distillery tries to use not only top quality ingredients, but also to favour English botanicals, in order to control the production chain and to give a territorial character to the Gin. At the end of the distillation process, the alcohol content of the gin is lowered with pure water and left to rest for some time before being finally bottled.
The Gins of the Thames Distillery are renowned worldwide for their finesse and refined elegance. The original recipes of each label are carefully guarded in secrecy and nowadays the distillery also produces gins for major international brands, who rely on Charles Maxwell's experience and his ability to interpret new market demands. The excellence of Thames Gins is proven by the numerous international awards received in recent years. Among the most representative labels of the Thames style is the London Dry Gin Mombasa Club, which is based on a 19th century recipe created during the colonial period for the "Mombasa Club" in Zanzibar. It is a gin with a particularly original and seductive taste thanks to the presence of exotic botanicals, which render the sip refreshing, citrusy and pleasantly bitter. The London Dry Gin "Colonel's Reserve" Mombasa Club version is the most refined and elegant of the range, with a particularly harmonious and balanced taste.
