The Deveron

The Deveron represents a brand of single malt scotch whisky created with the aim of offering this fine Scottish distillate at non-prohibitive prices. The brand, which originates in the Highlands region, by the banks of the Deveron River, from which it takes its name, is owned by the Macduff distillery, founded in 1960 by four Scottish entrepreneurs and now belonging to the Bacardi group, which has entrusted the management to the production company John Dewar & Sons. The brand The Deveron was previously known as Glen Deveron, but it was renamed because the rights to the name were not transferred with the change of ownership. Previously, the brand belonged to the Italian company Martini & Rossi, which conceived the single malt whiskies Glen Deveron thinking of a more youthful and fresh distillate that could be appreciated by Italian consumers. In 2015, 23 years after the sale to the Bacardi group, the brand The Deveron was relaunched.

The single malt scotch whiskies of The Deveron are produced at the Macduff distillery with pure malted barley according to the established Scottish tradition.Scottish. In fact, being single malt, these scotches are produced within a single distillery and with only malted barley. Following the malting process, the infusion (mashing) of the malt in hot water takes place before the alcoholic fermentation of a few days. The fermented malt, called “mash”, is then subjected to the distillation phase in traditional Pot Still stills, which ensure a remarkable aromatic finesse. The subsequent aging phase lasts between 10 and 18 years, depending on the bottle in question, and takes place in oak barrels.

The Single Malt Scotch Whiskies The Deveron have a classic style that reflects the soft and fruity character of the Highlands. The labels on all the bottles indicate the aging years, as the maturation time is a fundamental parameter for the distillery to guarantee the quality of the whisky.
