The Tiberio winery has a history that borders on the legendary. Nestled between the Maiella mountains and the Gran Sasso in the Abruzzo region, not far from the coastal town of Pescara, it was founded at the beginning of the new century, when Riccardo Tiberio discovered an old vineyard plot planted with Trebbiano Abruzzese grapes that was about 60 years old. Since then, the life of Riccardo and his family has taken a turn. From being the export manager of a well-known winery in the area, he became a producer, benefiting from his in-depth knowledge of market dynamics which enabled him to create a product that was very well received by the public. The 31 hectares of land were then adapted to his needs and in 2004 the first Tiberio vintage was a wonderful success. Since 2008, the management of the winery has been handed over to his children Antonio, who is an agronomist, and Cristiana, a chemist, who oversees the more delicate aspects of the winery.

The red and white wines of Tiberio are an authentic territorial voice. In fact, the two siblings decided to remove the international varieties on which they had started experimenting in previous years, in order to plant Pecorino and Trebbiano Abruzzese varieties once again, alongside the already solid production of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Aglianico grapes. Between the hills stretching from the Abruzzo Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, the vines enjoy a pleasant sea breeze, which is sometimes alternated with cold currents from the Maiella Mountain range. The calcareous clay soils are home to the deep roots of native vines that range in age from 15 to 65 years, and which are caressed by a climate that features strong temperature fluctuations, essential for strengthening the aromatic character of the grapes. After manual harvesting, the white grapes undergo a 6-hour cold maceration period and the must is obtained without any kind of pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

The Trebbiano Abruzzese vines of the Tiberio winery are particularly noteworthy as they are an example of rarity and authenticity in the region. In the past, in fact, it was common to confuse the local Trebbiano with Tuscan or Bombino Bianco varieties. This almost undermined the nobility and purity of this vine, which has delicate and light scents but a composite and solid structure. Although the wine culture in the area dates back to ancient Roman times, Cristina and Antonio have a completely modern perspective in their approach to the vines, with the specific aim of producing examples that are emblematic for the area and representative of the passion with which an entire family runs this winery.
