Ukiyo Spirits
The name of the company comes from the Japanese term ukiyo, which expresses the concept of living fully in the moment, with a light-hearted state of mind, detached from the daily difficulties of life. A sort of carpe diem of the culture of the Rising Sun. The company has distinguished itself over time thanks to the purity of its distillations, carried out in the spirit of refined Japanese tradition, the result of valuable experience passed down through generations over the centuries. The company is located in Kagoshima Prefecture, near the Sakurajima volcano, at the southernmost tip of Japanese territory. An area that has always been the cradle of the ancient production of the oldest and most popular spirit among the Japanese, Shōchū.
The Gins are born from the history of the territory. The production, in fact, is strongly linked to tradition. At the base of the processing process is an excellent level Shōchū, produced with top-quality barley. This ancient distillate is used as an ingredient for a second distillation, which takes place in traditional stills, with the addition of the classic botanicals of Gin: juniper, mandarin, and spices, along with a selection of carefully selected local botanicals, which give a particular connotation to the final distillate. Similarly, the Vodka from Ukiyo Spirits has a strong territorial connotation. It is made with rice sourced from the fields located on the island of Okinawa.
The entire range of labels offered by Ukiyo Spirits thus fits into the purest Japanese tradition, thanks to an ancient and wise culture of distillation. Among the special ingredients of the Gins are cherry blossoms, regional citrus fruits, native botanicals, which restore the typical scents and aromas of the mountains surrounding the production area. A particular ingredient of the Gins is Yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit similar to lemon, but with a very thick skin, rich in scents and aromas, particularly intense and persistent, with a characteristic note marked by pleasant bitter nuances.
