Vignaioli di Santo Stefano - Ceretto
The story of I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano is the adventure of an enterprising group of producers with the common goal of recreating a quality model around the image of Moscato Bianco. The protagonists of this story of excellence in Moscato winemaking are agronomist Sergio Santi, the Scavino brothers, and the Ceretto brothers: tired of the large quantities for commercial use of Asti, in 1976 they inaugurated a production that has become synonymous with quality and success over the years.
What I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano represents is a small production reality of Moscato d’Asti and Spumante d’Asti, faithful to the traditional techniques of the area. This reality currently owns 25 hectares of vineyard divided between Santo Stefano Belbo, Canelli, and Calosso, in addition to another 16 hectares rented from the prestigious estate San Maurizio of Count Carlo Vittorio Incisa Beccaria, in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo.
The work of I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano consists of enhancing the aromatic heritage of the Moscato grape, producing wines of high qualitative level. The attention to style and quality, under the banner of an immediately recognizable model, has materialized, starting from the 1990s, also in the creation of a bottle with an unusual and daring inverted cone shape, designed by Giacomo Bersanetti. The symbol of the yellow half-moon that appears, year after year, on every label is meant to be a tribute to Cesare Pavese, a native of the Santo Stefano Belbo hills, and to his last novel The Moon and the Bonfires, set precisely in those hills where I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano produce Moscato.
