Behind the Friulian wine reality Villa de Puppi lies a history built on family and nobility, as well as on the continuous desire to improve in order to express the best that Friuli can offer in terms of oenology. The de Puppi family is descended from the Conti Guidi, a noble Tuscan lineage from Poppi, a town located in the Casentino area. Conflicts between Guelphs and Ghibellines generated divisions within the same family, forcing a branch of it to settle in Friuli as early as the 1200s, specifically in Cividale del Friuli. Over the centuries, the family contributed to the prestige of the area, providing high-level political, legal and ecclesiastical figures. At the same time, the de Puppi family devoted themselves to wine production, respecting local traditions but always with an innovative approach. Today's winery was born in 1991 in Moimacco, a stone's throw from Cividale del Friuli, a town that is also home to the family's beautiful villa.

There are 25 hectares at the disposal of the Villa de Puppi estate, dedicated partly to local varieties such as Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Friulano and Ribolla Gialla and partly to international varieties that have shown over time exceptional adaptation to the terroir of Friuli's eastern side, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards, conducted according to the principles of integrated pest management, are divided into two bodies, one located in the Rosazzo hills, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli area, and the other in Moimacco. Fermentations mostly take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with the ensuing maturation periods always taking place in steel or in barriques and oak barrels for the more structured and prestigious wines.

The Villa de Puppi winery is the creator of a stylistically varied production, including both fresh and youthful wines and more structured and complex expressions. In particular, the estate's range is divided into two lines: 'de Puppi' and 'Rosa Bosco.' The latter, established in 1998 on Rosa Bosco's initiative, encompasses fine labels with a modern style.
