Villa Zarri

Villa Zarri is located near Bologna and has an estate with a large park and a magnificent residence dating back to the 16th century. A two-story building, renovated during the 18th century by the Bolognese family Angelelli, which has hosted artists and intellectuals over the centuries. Today, the Villa has been transformed into a multifunctional center of particular prestige, suitable for hosting weddings, corporate meetings, parties, and concerts. Since 2018, the spaces of the Villa also host the Restaurant of Chef Agostino Iacobucci, which offers refined and creative cuisine within an elegant and sophisticated architectural context.

Besides this hospitality and catering activity, Villa Zarri has always been famous for the presence of a famous distillery inside, equipped with a traditional Charentais still, intended for the production of high-end Italian Brandy. The distillation activity began around the mid-1950s when Leonida Zarri purchased the Venetian company Pilla, which produced an excellent Brandy and a range of liqueurs, among which the Select stood out, at the time one of the most popular Italian aperitifs. The company was then moved near Castel Maggiore, in a building close to Villa Zarri, previously used as a stable, in order to better follow and control the entire production and distillation process.

The Villa Zarri Brandy was created in 1986. From the very beginning, the goal was clear: to create not only the best Italian Brandy but also a label of absolute international level. To ensure maximum refinement, the production process is based on a two-phase distillation in a copper Charentais still. The base wine is produced with the typical grape of the area: the trebbiano romagnolo, also used in France under the name of Ugni Blan for Cognac. The distillate ages in French Limousin oak barrels of 350 liters, which allow for micro-oxygenation and a slow evolution of the Brandy, thus developing refined tertiary aromas. The first bottle of Zarri Brandy hit the market in 1990. Today the brand is recognized as the best producer of artisanal Italian Brandy.
