Whitley Neill
Jhonny is the last representative of the nine generations that have succeeded each other at Whitley Neil. His passion developed thanks to the environment that has always surrounded him, during afternoons spent staring at his grandmother's collection of bottles, sitting on the steps of the house, increasingly curious to discover the mysterious liquid that his family has been distilling since 1762. It was his grandmother who took him under her wing, teaching him the practice of infusing juniper berries with other aromas, the secrets of distillation, and the incredible transformation that alcohol undergoes during these processes. A job of an alchemist, as he defines it himself, secretive and introspective, made of research, passion, and love, as well as hundreds of years of experience accumulated by his family.
Whitley Neill produces its diamond tip with an unexpected ingredient: the fruit of the baobab. The Original, in fact, is a gin inspired by Africa, by its ancient plant that sinks its roots into a depth gained over hundreds of years of life, just like the inherited abilities from Jhonny Neill. The alcohol base is left to macerate with 9 botanicals, the copper stills used in the distillation phase are over one hundred years old, the oldest being “Costance” which has been working for this family for more than a century. Pure water and top-quality products are the guarantee of a characteristic distillate, which tells the story of the “Tree of life”.
Whitley Neill gins are soft and smoother than traditional ones, always rich in notes of juniper and lemon, but with warmer floral undertones, potpourri and exotic spices, cocoa and candied citrus peel. This is the expression of an exceptional drink, a direct descendant of the meeting between this family's craftsmanship and the ancient roots of the African Baobab. It is the sense of adventure of the Whitley family, which signs unmistakable gins, in the name of true blending of colonial cultures. Balanced, distinctive, unique in their kind.
