Zenata Rosso 'Tandem' Thalvin-Graillot 2022
Artisanal
Callmewine's FavouritesTandem" is a red wine made from Syrah produced in Morocco and aged in cement and used barriques. It has a dark, impenetrable red color and exudes aromas of black pepper, juicy red fruits, and a slight hint of oriental spices that reveal a clean and very fresh sip with pleasant tannins.
The Zenata Rosso “Tandem” from the Thalvin - Graillot winery originates in the lands of Morocco. The Northern African viticulture has an ancient history, dating back to the early Phoenician settlements and later to the Roman conquest. The area between the coast and the first mountainous ridges of the Atlas enjoys a particularly favorable climate for grape cultivation. The French presence has created a tradition that is still part of the local culture today. The red is made from the Syrah grape, which is native to Central Europe. Although its preferred terroir remains the Rhône Valley and particularly the area of Côte Rotie and Hermitage, it is one of the most cultivated varieties in the world and is present in almost all the most important countries.
The “Tandem” Zenata Rosso from Thalvin - Graillot comes from a project that saw the light in 1923, when the Domaine des Ouled Thaleb was created about fifty kilometers from Casablanca. Thanks to the collaboration with the Rhône Valley winery of Alain Graillot, the Moroccan estate launched a new label range. The grapes come from Syrah vineyards located in the area of the “Zenata” denomination, among the most vocated in Morocco for the cultivation of red berry varieties. The soils are predominantly composed of red clays. At the end of the manual harvest, the bunches are sent for fermentation, which takes place at controlled temperature in cement tanks. The aging lasts for 24 months and takes place half in cement and half in used oak barrels. The mass is then blended before proceeding to bottling.
The Zenata Rosso “Tandem” Thalvin - Graillot wine is a beautiful version of Syrah, which captivates with its immediate fruity pleasantness and clear drinkability. In appearance, it presents a dark red color with slight purple reflections. Intense and elegant, it expresses aromas of small dark berries, blueberries, black currants, wild blackberries, floral hints of violet, notes of oriental spices, particularly black pepper. On the palate, it reveals a good structure, with a dense tannic texture, and rich, dense aromas that recall ripe red fruit and spices. The finish is harmonious, long, and persistent, with a closing on peppery notes.
