Aglianico Casa di Baal 2021
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Aglianico from Casa di Baal is an elegant tribute to the Campanian land and the winemaking tradition of the Salerno hills, where the winery is located. A red wine with character and good structure, aged for at least a year in medium-sized oak barrels and then another year in bottle. Bright ruby red to the eye, aromas of red fruit, dog rose, and licorice, with a soft, dynamic, and persistent sip.
The Aglianico from Casa di Baal is an indigenous red from the Campania region produced in the Colli di Salerno using artisanal methods. The Casa di Baal company has been certified organic since 2010, “the official recognition of a philosophy and lifestyle that has always belonged to us,” emphasize Annibale and Anna, who have always led the winery, now supported by their daughter Francesca. Aglianico is one of the most important grape varieties in Southern Italy and gives life to some of the most famous wines in Italy; for Casa di Baal, it represents the flagship red of the line.
Casa di Baal produces this red from pure Aglianico grapes, finely selected and cultivated according to the principles of organic farming in Montecorvino Rovella, in the heart of the Colli di Salerno. The Aglianico bunches ripen in a truly exceptional pedoclimatic area: at 150 meters above sea level, halfway between the Amalfi and Cilento coasts, with the heights of Avellino behind them. In the winery, they instead resort to the least possible useof technology: fermentation takes place spontaneously in steel tanks and aging continues in medium-sized oak barrels for at least a year.
The Aglianico from Casa di Baal aims to present itself as an important red, with good structure and elegance, capable of honoring its territorial roots and teleporting those who drink it among the vineyards in Campania. Visually, it shows a beautiful bright ruby red, and on the nose, it offers pleasant aromas of ripe red fruit, dog rose, and spices, particularly licorice, with intriguing earthy and Mediterranean accents that provide a backdrop. On the palate, the sip is full and enveloping, with long and pleasant persistence, supported by excellent freshness that suggests good aging potential in the bottle. Perfect with typical first courses of Neapolitan culinary tradition such as pasta and potatoes or pasta frittata, but also with nice meat second courses.
