The Aglianico del Vulture "Teodosio" is a red wine of good intensity and great balance, with aromas of ripe red fruit and sweet spices, and a soft taste, with dense tannins and juicy fruity notes. Aged for almost a year in barriques

The Aglianico del Vulture “Teodosio” is a beautiful expression of this historic grape variety from southern Italy. A label capable of synthesizing the varietal characteristics, fruity and delicately spiced, with the tertiary notes of a light aging in wood. A full-bodied Aglianico that brings into the glass the typical aromas of the grape and the peculiar notes of the territory of the ancient extinct volcano of Vulture, characterized by a cool and continental climate and by volcanic soils, rich in minerals. The name “Teodosio” was chosen by Cantina Basilisco to remember the Byzantine emperor, as a tribute to the history and tradition of the territory.

The grapes used to produce the “Teodosio” label come from a 6-hectare vineyard, cultivated in the Barile area, with a south, southeast exposure at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. The vines are trained in Guyot on soils of tuff-clay composition. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with maceration on the skins for a period of 15/30days. After racking, part of the Aglianico rests for about 10-12 months in French oak barriques of second and third passage. The aging is completed with 12 months in bottle in the historic caves of Barile, carved into the tuff rock.

The Aglianico del Vulture “Teodosio”, thanks to a partial aging in wood and with used barriques, retains a more direct and straightforward expression of the varietal characteristics of the Aglianico grape, with a rather delicate contribution of the tertiary aging notes. In the glass, it has a ruby red color with youthful violet hues. The bouquet is characterized mainly by aromas of small dark berries, plum, and elegant spicy notes. On the palate, it has a good structure, pleasantly fragrant fruit, beautiful tannic texture, and lively freshness.
