Alta Langa Brut 'Limited Edition' Fontanafredda
Fontanafredda's Alta Langa Brut 'Limited Edition' is a fresh sparkling wine from Piedmont, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and aged for at least 30 months on the lees in the bottle. With a fine perlage and enveloping on the palate, it is characterized by a pleasant sapidity that accompanies the sip on the finish, while citrus notes of grapefruit, floral notes, yellow peach and basil stand out on the nose. A smooth flowing and versatile sparkling wine to drink as an aperitif or throughout a meal!
The Alta Langa ‘Limited Edition’ Brut from the renowned Langhe estate Fontanafredda is characterized as a sparkling wine of excellent balance and pleasantness, the result of the estate's consolidated experience. In the portfolio of the historic winery in Serralunga d’Alba, whose official founding dates back to 1858, the year King Vittorio Emanuele II acquired the estate as a gift for his beloved Rosa Vercellana, a selection of precious Alta Langa cannot be missing. This designation reserved for Metodo Classico sparkling wines was officially born as a DOC in 2002 and quickly established itself as a reference point in the world of Italian sparkling wines, obtaining DOCG recognition in 2011.
The ‘Limited Edition’ Fontanafredda Alta Langa Brut is made from a blend of Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, grape varieties cultivated at an altitude between 250 and 500 meters above sea level on soils composed of white clays interspersed with layers of limestone sands. Following manual harvesting, the grapes undergo soft and direct pressing, with the must thusobtained that is sent for alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperature. After a few months of maturation on the fine lees, the sparkling base is bottled for the second fermentation according to the Metodo Classico, with aging on the lees in glass lasting about 30 months until disgorgement and the subsequent Brut dosage.
The Alta Langa Brut Fontanafredda ‘Limited Edition’ has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections and fine, persistent effervescence. On the nose, fragrant sensations of yellow-fleshed fruit and honey meet citrus notes of grapefruit and hints of basil, as well as delicate bakery memories. The entry on the palate is enveloping and smooth, soon animated by the lively freshness and a pleasantly savory finish.
