Alta Langa Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Fontanafredda 2021
The Alta Langa Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs from the Fontanafredda winery is a fresh and versatile sparkling wine from Piemonte, capable of accompanying appetizers with friends or being enjoyed throughout the meal. It is made with only carefully hand-selected Chardonnay grapes and aged for about 36 months on its own lees. The color is pale straw yellow and accompanies a fine and persistent bubble, with intense notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, honey, crusty bread, and dried fruit emerging on the nose. The sip is creamy, fresh, enveloping, soft, with a long and slightly savory finish.
The Alta Langa Extra Brut “Blanc de Blancs” by Fontanafredda is a classic method vintage ideal for getting to know a territory with a great and emerging sparkling vocation. Piemonte is not just about great reds, and this label is proof of that. The Fontanafredda winery has written and marked the history of Piedmontese production since its founding in 1858: in 2015 it began the conversion to organic, which was fully certified in 2018 for the entire estate of 120 hectares. Great attention is paid to the biodiversity of natural flora and fauna, guaranteed by the presence of 12 hectares of owned woodland. A large production that is constantly committed to enhancing and respecting the territory and its qualities.
The “Blanc de Blancs” Alta Langa Extra Brut from the Fontanafredda winery is made with 100% Chardonnay grapes that are meticulously hand-picked in small 20kg boxes and immediately taken to the winery to maintain the fruit's integrity; following the soft pressing of the grapes, the must decants at low temperatures until it is clarified; then the racking follows and subsequently fermentation begins in steel, which continues for about a month at controlled temperature; the wine then matures until the spring following the harvest, when it will be ready for the second fermentation in the bottle: the aging lasts about 36 months.
