Amarone Classico Riserva 'Pergole Vece' Le Salette 2018
The Amarone "Pergole Vece" is a robust and complex wine, endowed with an extraordinary aging potential. After 36 months of aging in barriques, it expresses a rich and complex aromatic range that includes fruit, eucalyptus, fine woods, sweet spices, and coffee. The sip is warm, very full-bodied, intense, and concentrated.
The Le Salette farm is located about twenty kilometers northwest of Verona, in the town of Fiumane and has belonged to the Scamperle family for more than 150 years. The farm takes its name from the nearby sanctuary called La Salette, built at the end of the 19th century by local winemakers as a votive offering to the Madonna for having eradicated the phylloxera, which had infested their vineyards during those years. Undoubtedly, it was the American rootstock, which arrived at that time to save the now almost compromised situation of the vines, that provided great help in resolving the problems caused by the invasive insect; thus allowing the Scamperle family to continue wine production.
Today, the Le Salette winery is managed by Franco Scamperle who, together with his children Cesare and Giulia, makes the family business thrive. This is demonstrated by the fact that the Scamperle family has been able to increase the size of their vineyards, reaching a total of almost 20 hectares, all located in areas particularly suited for wine production in Valpolicella. For this reason, the vineyards are those typical of this territory such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, Molinara, and Croatina.
As in all family-run businesses, the work rhythms at the Le Salette winery are intense; rewarding the great commitment are the enthusiasm, love for the territory, and the constant desire to improve, thanks to the experience accumulated over the years. These elements contribute to achieving absolutely excellent results such as the one considered the flagship of the winery, the Amarone Vigne Vecie which, with its incomparable elegance and refinement, has won the favor of enthusiasts and connoisseurs from all over the world.
