Appassimento Rosso Notte Rossa 2022
The Appassimento Rosso di Notte Rossa is a red fresh and balanced wine from Salento. Different native red grapes are left to dry on the vines for just over a week, to concentrate aromas and intensity. On the nose, floral hints and red fruit are perceived, along with intriguing sensations reminiscent of peach skin. On the palate, it surprises with balance: warm and fresh at the same time. The persistent sip ends slightly sweet.
The Notte Rossa ‘Appassimento Rosso’ is a dessert wine from Salento with a rich and generous soul, produced through a blend of typical red grapes from the area. Founded in 2013 in Sava, near the city of Taranto, the winery Notte Rossa quickly established itself in the Apulian wine scene, thanks also and especially to wines of great typicity and an excellent quality-price ratio. Among the traditional varieties cultivated by the estate, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, and Nero di Troia stand out as authentic witnesses of the region's viticultural heritage.
‘Appassimento Rosso’ by Notte Rossa originates from a selection of typical grapes from the Salento area, grown in medium-textured soils that are predominantly sandy, shallow, and with a good presence of gravel, located at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out at the end of September after a light drying of 10-15 days of the bunches on the vine, aimed at concentrating the sugars in the grapes. In the winery, the introduction of selected yeasts allows the alcoholic fermentation to take place, which occurs at a controlled temperature with 10 days of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is completed, the wine is transferred to French and American oak barriques for 4 months of aging before the final bottling.
The sweet wine ‘Appassimento Rosso’ from the winery Notte Rossa has an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. On the nose, vivid hints of ripe red fruit, cherry jam, and flowers emerge, with spicy nuances in the background. Soft and balanced on the palate, it has a sweetness that is not cloying and mature tannins. Clear returns of ripe fruit and spices in the finish.
