The Barbaresco by Giuseppe Cortese is a balanced and full-bodied red wine that comes from 18 months of aging in oak barrels. On the nose, it displays juicy notes of ripe red fruit, seasoned with hints of sweet spices, toasted notes, and touches of vanilla. On the palate, it is structured, long, and has excellent freshness, with pleasant tannins.

The Barbaresco by Giuseppe Cortese is a classic version of this great wine from the Langhe, always appreciated for its finesse and elegance. It is a pure Nebbiolo made according to the oldest traditions of the territory, using grapes from different vineyards, each with its own particular characteristics, cultivated in the prized area of Rabaja, one of the most renowned crus of the denomination. This is a Barbaresco with a traditional face, which, thanks to aging in large barrels, offers a harmonious profile, with evolved tannins, while preserving the varietal fragrance of fruity and delicately spiced notes that have always characterized Barbaresco.

The Barbaresco wine originates from the estate of one of the reference producers of the denomination. The winery of Giuseppe Cortese is located in the Rabaja area, in the municipality of Barbaresco, one of the areas recognized as among the most suitable for the cultivation of Nebbiolo. The vineyards are situated at an altitude ranging from 235 to 515 meters above sea level, with southwest exposures, well-sunlit and ventilated. The is characterized by the presence of valuable calcareous-clay marls, with a sandy component, which give the wines a particularly refined and fine profile. The Barbaresco is produced with grapes that come from different vineyards, chosen each year based on climatic conditions, to always have a harmonious and balanced wine. It is an ideal label to approach the territory and understand the basic characteristics of this great wine, before delving into the nuances of the individual crus.

The Barbaresco Cortese is made with a selection of Nebbiolo grapes that come from vineyards with an average age of about 35 years. At the end of the harvest, with the selection of the best bunches in the vineyard, the grapes are sent for fermentation in steel tanks with skin fermentation lasting about a month. It matures for 18 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and completes the aging with at least 6 months in bottle before being released for sale. In the glass, it appears garnet red with bright reflections. The bouquet reminds of small red berry fruits, hints of violet, licorice root, vanilla, and delicate spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with delicate and complex aromas that stretch harmoniously towards a fresh and persistent finish.
