The Barbera d'Alba "Bricco del Cuculo" is a red wine of excellent structure and complexity, matured for 14 months in oak barrels. Notes of spices, licorice, leather, and red fruits emerge from its aromatic profile. The taste is enveloping and soft, characterized by a varietal freshness

The Barbera D'Alba "Bricco del Cuculo" from Castello di Verduno is captivating right from its name. The name derives from the numerous presence of these birds, the cuckoo indeed, which in spring populate and cheer the wooded areas of Bricco and Pan del Cuculo, a wildflower that blooms with the first warm days after winter.

We are in the municipality of Barbaresco, on a vineyard cultivated with 100% Barbera grapes, with white soil and a calcareous-clay base, located at the top of a hill with tri-oriented slopes facing East, South, and West. The Barbera D'Alba "Bricco del Cuculo" from Castello di Verduno follows a traditional vinification that begins at the end of September with manual harvesting and maceration in steel tanks for 15 days. The wine then undergoes a maturation of 14 months in Slavonian oak barrels and 8 months in steel tanks, before resting and rebalancing for 4 months in the bottle prior to its commercialization.

This production process is followed with commitment and passion by the winemaker of Castello di Verduno, who adheres to the philosophy of minimizing intervention in the cellar, focusing entirely on the patient and careful care of the fruit in the vineyard. We are faced with a very clean, balanced, and composed Barbera, which will win you over with its aroma of spices combined with the pleasantness of red fruits and licorice; a Barbera endowed with excellent structure, never losing that freshness that distinguishes it.
