Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Brua' Musso 2022
Exclusive wineryThe Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Brua' from the Musso winery is a rich and intense red wine produced in the heart of the Langhe. An ethereal, juicy wine with good alcohol content that is not heavy thanks to a pleasant acidity that refreshes the sip, making it an ideal wine to pair with platters of cured meats and semi-aged cheeses!
The Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Brua' is a bottle with a eloquent and generous soul produced by the Musso winery in the Langhe. This label comes from a selection of grapes from the oldest Barbera vineyard on the estate, located in the Rio Sordo cru, within the municipality of Barbaresco. Although the best areas and exposures in the Langhe are traditionally reserved for Nebbiolo, Barbera has shown that if cultivated and worked properly, it can yield exceptional results, as in the case of 'Brua'.
Musso Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Brua' is produced solely with Barbera grapes grown on predominantly calcareous soils characterized by layers of clay and located between 240 and 270 meters above sea level. When the grapes have reached full ripeness, manual harvesting takes place, followed by destemming and gentle pressing of the grapes. The must obtained is then channeled into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with several days of skin maceration. The subsequent aging phase takes place in 20-hectoliter oak barrels and 500-liter tonneaux for a total period of 24 months. After bottling, the wine is left to rest for a few more months before its final release on the market.
To the eye, Musso's Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Brua' displays a dark ruby red and consistent cloak with purple hues. The aromatic spectrum presents ethereal, intense, and fruity aromas of red and black fruits in jam, balsamic herbs, and licorice, enriched by toasted and sweet spice notes. Rich and enveloping tasting, round and intense, with good alcohol balanced by freshness and soft tannins.
