The Barolo "Brunate" by Mario Marengo is a refined and decisive interpretation of Barolo: a true classic, from 80-year-old vines. The aromatic bouquet is broad and surprising, rich in aromas of cherry, dried flowers, and currant with finely menthol hints. On the palate, it is austere and rigorous, succulent and agile, supported by incredible freshness and agile tannins, long, convincing, and energetic in the finish.

Barolo "Brunate" by Mario Marengo offers a unique interpretation of this renowned cru of the denomination. In a reality like this, where tradition has been the glue for generations and respect for the grapes and the wine itself is a religious commandment, the Barolo produced in Brunate acquires added value. The vineyards stretch between Barolo and La Morra, on a single amphitheater slope that presents ridges of significant elevation and enjoy a historically favorable microclimate: the large temperature swings between night and day ensure that the grapes take on unique and singular characteristics, which inevitably impact those of the wine itself.

The Barolo "Brunate" by Mario Marengo comes from Nebbiolo grapes of the cru Brunate, at an altitude between 400 and 230 meters above sea level. The vines, exposed to the south, are over 80 years old and are located on a soil mainly composed of mixed clays and very fine calcareous sands. A characteristic of the soil is the presence of Sant'Agata marls and fossils from the Tortonian period. No wonder Brunate is one of the most important and renowned crus of Barolo, where we find calcium and manganese carbonates that enrich and nourish the plants. The vinification takes place in steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation is also carried out, at controlled temperature. The aging lasts 24 months in oak barrels.

“Brunate” Barolo by Mario Marengo presents a not too intense ruby red color with intriguing garnet reflections. Once poured into the glass, aromas both characteristic of Nebbiolo such as cherry, rose, and violet, as well as fruity notes of jam made from dark fruits and currants, reach the nose. Balsamic notes emerge in the finish, with hints of mint and eucalyptus foremost. On the palate, it reveals a rigorous and clear Barolo, concrete and very elegant. The tannin, thanks to the grapes that undergo temperature swings in the vineyard, is soft and succulent, less abrasive than other crus. The freshness integrates well and persists excellently, along with the other aromas that stretch and unfold in the sip.
