The Barolo Cannubi by Borgogno is the intense and elegant expression of the homonymous cru of the municipality of Barolo. It is produced with aging for 48 months in traditional large oak barrels, then expressing itself with great strength and typicity in hints of red flowers, berries, balsamic herbs, sweet spices and noble woods. The sip is powerful, structured, fresh, elegant and very long

Barolo “Cannubi” is the most prestigious and famous cru of Barolo produced by Borgogno. Already in the eighteenth century, historical documents of the time mention the particular value of this limited and exclusive wine-growing area. A unique terroir with excellent qualitative characteristics for grape cultivation, from which extremely elegant and long-lived wines are born, making this small hill of Barolo known all over the world.

Borgogno “Cannubi” is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes, coming from a vineyard of just over one hectare in the Cannubi cru at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The soil has specific characteristics: it is low in organic matter but rich in microelements and is characterized by a good percentage of sand. Along with these soil characteristics, a particular microclimate and expert human intervention yield grapes of unparalleled quality. The winemaking in the cellar takes place in concrete tanks where spontaneous alcoholic fermentation occurs, using indigenous yeasts, followed by a maceration of about 40 days with submerged cap. Finally, an aging of 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels and 6 months in bottle, confer the roundness and softness to the final product.

This red from Borgogno presents an intense red color, with delicate garnet reflections. On the nose, a wide and complex aromatic bouquet emerges: intense floral notes are balanced with hints of berries, currants, and wild blackberries. On the palate, the entry is decisive, powerful, with a significant and vertical structure fortified by an elegant and silky tannin. The enveloping and round characteristics are balanced by excellent freshness and a well-defined minerality. A finish of spicy notes, leather, and tobacco closes the unparalleled aromatic complexity of this great icon of Italian wine.
