Barolo Mario Marengo 2022
The Barolo by Mario Marengo is presented as an excellent representative of the category, all played on balance and floral finesse. From the cru of La Morra, after two years of aging in barrique, it offers aromas of cherry, small red fruits, jam, and hints of light oak. Fine, harmonious, and well-balanced in the mouth, subtle and smooth, with slight tannins on the finish. Enjoyable right from the start!
The Barolo by Mario Marengo is a label that perfectly reflects the refined and elegant character traditionally associated with wines from the La Morra area. The presence of soils with a good percentage of sand makes the calcareous-clay marls lighter and less compact. The Nebbiolo is less tannic and powerful but more fine and delicate. This label is produced according to the oldest customs of the Langhe, with a grape blend from various vineyards. This choice allows each year to offer wines of good balance and harmony, thanks to the ability to choose how to create the cuvée, in relation to the characteristics of the vintage.
The Barolo wine by Mario Marengo is the expression of the best tradition of the Langhe territory. The winery is located in Serradenari, one of the highest hills of the Barolo denomination, and cultivates vineyards in the prestigious crus of Brunate and Bricco delle Viole, always known for the excellence of their wines. The style of the labels is rooted in tradition, with particular attention to vineyard work and the production of wines that cantell, through the glass, the best qualities of the extraordinary Langhe territory. The La Morra area, in particular, has soils with a higher percentage of sand, which gives the Barolo a gentler and less tannic profile. These wines are especially seductive for the delicacy and harmony of the aromas and are already pleasant when young, without needing long aging in the bottle.
The Marengo Barolo produced by the Piedmontese winery of Mario Marengo is a product of the splendid Langhe territory. The grapes come from various vineyards in the municipality of La Morra and are fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about ten days. At the end of the wood aging period, the wine presents an intense garnet red color, with bright ruby reflections. The olfactory profile recalls floral scents of violet, notes of berries, and slight woody hints. On the palate, it is elegant, with fine tannins, a mid-palate of delicate and subtle aromas, leading the sip towards a harmonious, persistent, and refreshing finish. The ideal Barolo forthose who are in search of the expressive finesse of the great wines of the Langhe.
