Barolo 'Villero' Giacomo Fenocchio 2021
The Barolo "Villero" by Fenocchio is an intense and enveloping wine born in the Villero cru of Castiglione Falletto and aged for 30 months in barrel. The bouquet is broad and complex, the taste elegant, warm, and structured, supported by soft and ripe tannins, elegant and persistent.
The Barolo "Villero" by Giacomo Fenocchio is born from the passion and dedication for Barolo of the Fenocchio family. We are talking about a story of five generations of vignerons, who have succeeded one another in the production of this great wine from the Langhe starting from particularly suited vineyards, among which Villero stands out. Following the teachings of his ancestors, Claudio Fenocchio, the current owner of the winery, uses long macerations and spontaneous fermentations conducted by the indigenous microflora of the grapes for his wines, without accelerations or forced interventions, following the times and rules that Barolo imposes.
With the same approach, in the Fenocchio winery, barriques are not used for aging, as they would be excessively aromatic for the wine. The Fenocchio brothers personally take care of the vineyard work, using techniques aimed at preserving the natural ecological balance of the soils: the yields in the vineyard are balanced, neither excessively pushed towards quantity nor fiercely reduced, to achieve a pleasant balance between tannin concentration and coloring substances, without penalize the finesse of the wine.
The Barolo Villero is born in one of the most suited crus in the area of Castiglione Falletto. The Fenocchio family enhances the production of their vineyards, giving life to wines with a strong territorial characterization, as in this case. The Barolo Villero responds to the calcareous and clay-rich soils of origin with a wide aromatic bouquet and an enveloping tannic structure, capable of supporting long aging.
