Bianco Fedespina 2023
ArtisanalThe Bianco di Fedespina is a white wine from Tuscany's Alta Lunigiana with a very expressive and elegant profile. It is made from a blend of Vermentino, Chardonnay, and Durella and matures for a few months in small wooden barrels. Notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, Mediterranean herbs, light hints of spices, and vegetal references enliven a broad and authentic sip, with great purity and pleasant freshness.
The Bianco di Podere Fedespina is a Tuscan wine originating from Alta Lunigiana, a borderland between Liguria and Emilia Romagna, where the couple Mirta and Antonio have shown how this land is capable of producing quality wines. Since 2003, they have decided to invest in the renewal of their vineyard, replanting Merlot and Ciliegiolo, grape varieties that find the ideal soil here to unleash their goodness; they also acquired a prestigious vineyard in Valle di Caprio, where experimentation begins for the production of wines using the Metodo Classico. The labels are simple and elegant with a touch of personalization given by the watercolor writing.
The grapes of Bianco di Podere Fedespina are cultivated in the vineyard with the minimum possible external intervention, avoiding any type of chemical substance or herbicide: indeed, a completely manual care of the plants is preferred, respecting their natural cycles of growth and development and the surrounding environment. The soil on which these vineyards over 50 years old stand is mainly composed of clay and sand. The grapes are hand-selected in the vineyard and transported to the winery in small boxes, where further sorting takes place; the alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous, as it is triggered by indigenous yeasts. It is then aged in wood before bottling.
The Bianco di Podere Fedespina presents itself in the glass with a straw yellow color and golden reflections. On the nose, there are hints of ripe yellow fruit, citrus, wild herbs, and saline notes; the palate is struck by an elegant structure, characterized by a good dose of freshness, breadth, and delicacy. Recommended for fish and shellfish dishes traditionally consumed in the area, but it also pairs well with white meats cooked in a stew. An interesting product that presents itself as the youngest among the winery's products and is suitable for being enjoyed during gatherings with lifelong friends in countryside locations to share the aromas and flavors of a beautiful land that has much to offer.
