From our sommeliers

The Bolgheri Rosso from the Le Macchiole winery is a red wine of excellent aromatic tension, where the quality of the grapes seems to be exalted. On the nose, it expresses aromas of blackberries and cherries, combined with wild spices and wilted roses. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with balanced tannins. Aged for 10 months in barriques.

The route followed by Le Macchiole in recent years, in the direction of exaltation of the great potential of Bolgheri terroir, is the key factor for the great results obtained from this small company positioned in the coast of Livorno, in response to a project started in 1983 and always characterized by environmentally friendly agricultural practices. A close observation of the complex balance that regulates the area of Bolgheri Le Macchiole led to experiment with those varieties of international origin, yet invested in recent decades by a new aura of tradition and acclimation on the clay and limestone soils of the area, often opting for production of single variety wines. The need to transfer the most multifaceted territorial nuances in the expressive heritage of wine is fulfilled by a detailed management of the vineyards, thanks to which on each geomorphological difference between the parcels of property is built expressive personality and identifiability. In the cellar of Le Macchiole fermentations follow the natural cycle of the grape harvests, with a chronological fragmentation that increases the level of commitment but ultimately is the rewarding choice is to start each process winemaking with a nearly perfect raw material. If the fortunes of Bolgheri has long descended from black grape varieties, this is the Bolgheri Rosso Le Macchiole tribute to the territory which has built a reputation: soft and juicy, with a dynamic opening to the palate of great intensity, the Bolgheri the red de Macchiole is an aromatic wine with ample tension, able to return the thread to the original taste of the fruit expression.
