“Brezeme” Eric Texier is perhaps one of the wines that most expresses the awareness of this French winemaker, who carries forward his ideas of wine in little-known areas within the system of historical French denominations. This red is indeed a Syrah that falls within the Brezeme appellation, a tiny territory straddling the Upper and Lower Rhône, but to which Eric has managed to restore dignity and luster, making his name resonate a bit around the world. His years-long research has led him to develop a remarkable sensitivity to the authenticity of the territory and environmental issues, creating a balanced blend of organic - permaculture and elegance and finesse of the wines.
Eric Texier "Brezeme" is a pure Syrah obtained from vines that stretch along the right bank of the Drome river. The plants are over 25 years old and grow on a clayey soil with layers of limestone and marls. The grape harvest is done manually, and the grapes undergo a pre-fermentation maceration of 2-3 days, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation always with a whole cluster maceration.entirely for 8 days in cement tanks. After a year of aging in large barrels, at the bottling stage the wine undergoes no filtration.
The "Brezeme" by Eric Texier shines in the glass with its intense ruby red. On the nose, we find the trace of red also in the aromas, from small wild forest fruits. Notes of wild aromatic herbs and the spicier, peppery ones emerge. On the palate, it envelops with its rich and intense aroma, where the same fruity freshness of the scents re-emerges. Quite distant from the Syrah produced on Italian soil, this organic French wine is pleasant, far from the search for extremes that sometimes compromise drinkability, which here offers a perfect marriage with both stewed and roasted meats.
