Eric Texier is a self-taught winemaker who has managed to establish himself as one of the landmarks of the Rhone Valley. Guided only by passion, with no family traditions and a degree as an engineer, Eric traveled all over France studying and observing the work of winemakers, lingering especially in Burgundy with Jean-Marie Guffens. At the end of his apprenticeship, Eric bought a small vineyard in the Côtes-du-Rhône settentionale enjoying great success for his very traditional and expressive but never extreme wines.

Today Eric Texier can boast of a number of vineyards scattered between the Maconnais, in Burgundy, the Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, in the northern Rhône Valley, and in some villages in the southern Côte-du-Rhône. The wines are made near the vineyards and then, only after being bottled, are brought near Lyon to the winery's headquarters, where Eric lives permanently. Production practices involve hand-harvesting the grapes, destemming, CO2 inoculation to prevent oxidation and promote aromatic extraction, soft pressing and spontaneous fermentation in open wooden or steel containers, depending on the vintage. The red wines remain to age in small or large oak barrels that are not new. The wine is then bottled without filtration.

Eric Texier's wines represent true excellences of the Northern Rhône Valley, an area best known for the production of Syrah but also of white wines based on Viognier, Marsanne, Roussane. What Eric Textier tries to express with his wines is passion, tradition and, above all, terroir, with the express purpose of making those who taste them happy and satisfied.
