BRONNER THOMAS NIEDERMAYR 2018 DESCRIPTION

Thomas Niedermayr Bronner represents a South Tyrolean white wine that is characterized by regenerating freshness and a distinct mineral timbre. We are within the municipality of Eppan on the Wine Road, also called the Land of Castles, Lakes and Wine. Here, Thomas Niedermayr runs the Hof Gandberg estate, implementing sustainable agriculture based on organic vineyard management, the preservation of biodiversity and the use of PIWI varieties, genetic hybrids that are naturally more resistant to fungal diseases. The estate's name comes from the Gandberg massif that rises behind it.

Thomas Niedermayr Hof Gandberg Bronner is produced from the PIWI variety of the same name processed in purity. The vineyards are located at about 500 meters above sea level on deep soils of clay-limestone matrix, with a high percentage of white dolomite rock. After manual harvesting and careful sorting, pre-fermentation maceration takes place first and then gentle pressing. The resulting must undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks, and then the wine matures for 4 months in neutral oak barrels and another 4 months in steel. The mass is finally bottled without undergoing either clarification or filtration.

In the glass, Thomas Niedermayr's Alto-Adige Bronner white is dressed in a straw-yellow color with golden highlights. The olfactory panorama is intense and fragrant, described by sweet notes of spices and hay that meet Mediterranean memories. Balanced, fresh and savory palate with a long mineral finish. An artisanal bottle capable of conveying as much the characteristics of the place as those of the variety, excellent to drink immediately but also endowed with a fair longevity.
