Cabernet Franc Rosé 'L'Original' Domaine Clo 2022

The Cabernet Franc Rosé ‘L’Original’ from the French wine estate Domaine Clo is a bottle from the Loire made from organic farming with a fruity and floral aromatic profile. We are within the territory of Anjou-Saumur, land where two grape varieties reign supreme, namely Chenin Blanc for white grapes and Cabernet Franc among the black grape varieties. At the helm of Domaine Clo is Cyril Leau, the third generation of the family in the wine business, who took over the winery in 2015, immediately orienting towards an agronomic management based on sincere respect for the environment.

‘L’Original’ Domaine Clo Cabernet Franc Rosé originates from only Cabernet Franc grapes grown under certified organic regime on soils characterized by a high presence of clay, gypsum, schist, and flint. The vines also benefit from the cool oceanic climate with continental influences that distinguish the Anjou-Saumur area. Following the harvest, carried out entirely by hand, the bunches are transferredto the winery and vinified as rosé with a brief skin maceration. The alcoholic fermentation, entrusted to the only yeasts present on the grapes and in the winemaking environment, takes place in stainless steel tanks, the same type of containers where the wine remains to mature for 6 months on the fine lees before the final bottling.

To the eye, the Cabernet Franc Rosé Domaine Clo ‘L’Original’ shows an intense pink hue with coppery reflections. The nose offers fruity and floral hints that recall raspberry and violet, followed by suggestions of citrus and mown grass and distinctive mineral notes of wet stone. The palate impact is savory and clear, with juicy freshness giving momentum to the progression.
