The Caprettone del Vesuvio Cantine Olivella is a fresh and aromatic white wine produced in Campania, in the Vesuvio area. The soils of this area, of volcanic origin, give the wine a pleasant minerality that balances the delicacy of the floral and citrus notes, which are the protagonists of the aromatic profile. The sip is fresh and clean, enveloping the palate with a persistent yet well-integrated acidity. An excellent wine to enjoy with any meal, especially when paired with fish dinners!

Cantine Olivella introduces the Caprettone del Vesuvio ‘Emblema’, a Campanian white wine with a pleasant and intriguing character that reflects the characteristics of the territory and the grape variety. Caprettone is a white grape variety found exclusively on the slopes of Vesuvius, whose name seems to derive from the resemblance between the shape of the bunch and the beard of goats. Another theory suggests that the name originates from the fact that the grapes were traditionally cultivated by local shepherds. Cantine Olivella is committed to enhancing this sought-after indigenous grape variety that has long been undervalued.

‘Emblema’ Caprettone del Vesuvio by Cantine Olivella is a 100% Caprettone from vines over 40 years old cultivated following the principles of organic farming on volcanic sandy soils. When the grapes reach the ideal stage of ripeness, harvesting and white winemaking of the grapes through soft pressing takes place. The alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and subsequently the mass rests for a few months in the same type of wine containers before final bottling.

Visually, the Caprettone del Vesuvio ‘Emblema’ by Cantine Olivella shows a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The aromatic profile consists of hints of white-fleshed fruit and wildflowers that combine with slight notes of citrus peel and subtle herbaceous tones. A delicate and balanced sip, characterized by lively freshness and a savory mineral vein. This white wine is an ideal pairing with seafood dishes from the Campanian tradition such as spaghetti with clams, prawns alla vesuviana, or fried cod alla napoletana.
