CARIGNAN 'RAFALOT' DOMAINE VINCI 2017 DESCRIPTION

Domaine Vinci's Carignan "Rafalot" was born in Languedoc Roussillon in France, in an area between Perpignan and the Agly River Valley. The winery was founded in 2001 by the project of Emmanuelle Vinci and Olivier Varichon, a biologist and a winemaker, respectively, who share a passion for winemaking and who are convinced that only work that respects the environment and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards can help maintaining an healthy balance within the vineyard and in the soil, in order to limit human intervention to a minimum.

The pure Carignan grapes of Domaine Vinci's Carignan "Rafalot" come from centuries-old vines rooted in soils predominantly composed of clay and limestone that give rise to elegant and structured products. A fundamental choice is to use neither pesticides nor herbicide in the vineyard in order to encourage the natural development of the plants and the presence of insects that are good for the plants. The grapes are harvested by hand and alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in the cellar, followed by a 3-week maceration on the skins. It is aged 24 months in barriques.

To the eye, Domaine Vinci's Carignan "Rafalot" is garnet red in color. The nose is struck by aromas of Mediterranean scrub, blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant and spices. On the palate, however, it reveals an elegant, persistent and inviting character. In pairing it is excellent with first courses dressed with important sauces, grilled red meats and game; also interesting with seasonal vegetable dishes. A genuine product suitable for summer barbecues in the company of lifelong friends to enjoy a genuine and authentic wine.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
