Catarratto 'Kelbi' Pellegrino 2025

The Catarratto “Kelbi”, produced by the Pellegrino winery, is a fresh and citrusy wine made from one of the oldest white grape varieties in Sicily. Historically widespread especially in the western area of the island, Catarratto produces wines of character and strong personality. The vinification exclusively in steel enhances the varietal aromas, bringing to the forefront elegant and intense fruity notes, floral nuances, hints of citrus, and almonds. Its intense and smooth sip makes it particularly suitable for pairing with seafood menus.

The Pellegrino winery was founded at the end of the 19th century and after over a century of history, it is still one of the most important production realities on the island. Today it owns several properties in the most vocated areas of western Sicily and Pantelleria. The Catarratto wine "Kelbi", produced by the Pellegrino winery, is a white with a strong territorial character, which well represents the traditions of the western area of Sicily. The vineyards are cultivated on calcareous-sandy soils in the inland area of Mazara del Vallo. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks. It then matures for 4 months in steel before being bottled. In the glass, it presents a straw-yellow color with slight greenish reflections. The bouquet expresses aromas of orange blossom, white flowers, lime zest, citrus, white-fleshed fruit, and fresh almond. On the palate, it has a good structure, with harmonious fruity aromas that lead to a savory finish and vibrant freshness.
