Champagne Brut Nature 'Franc de Pieds' Miniere F&R 2018
The Champagne Brut Nature ‘Franc de Pieds’ by Minière F&R is a cuvée that originates from the sandy terroir of Hermonville from three distinct plots on own roots, where phylloxera does not take hold. The plot of ‘Les Rosières’ hosts Pinot Meunier planted in 1974 and represents the broadest and most mature component of the aromatic structure. ‘Les Fauvagnes’ contributes with Pinot Meunier grafted in 1962 and brings depth and complexity from old vines. ‘Les Moineaux’ provides Chardonnay and introduces tension and aromatic definition. During vinification, each parcel undergoes separate fermentation in wooden barrels of different capacities with indigenous yeasts. After about 8 months of aging in wood, the bases are blended with varying percentages depending on the vintage to build balance between structure and freshness, then they rest for 5 years on the lees. The aromatic profile develops between ripe yellow fruit, citrus, and light toasted notes. On the palate, it shows a saline tension, lively freshness, and a clear minerality that supports the sip. Excellent paired with seared scallops with citrus.
