The Champagne ‘Ice Imperial’ Demi-Sec is a medium-sweet sparkling wine that reflects the pioneering spirit of the renowned Maison Moët & Chandon. In fact, this Champagne has been specifically designed to be served with the addition of a few ice cubes or as an ingredient for refreshing cocktails. The revolutionary ‘Ice Imperial’ line was launched by the Maison in 2011 and has immediately achieved wide success precisely because of its uniqueness.
Moët & Chandon Champagne Demi-Sec ‘Ice Imperial’ is crafted from a blend of Pinot Noir (40-50%), Pinot Meunier (30-40%), and Chardonnay (10-20%). The base of Pinot Noir determines the important structure of the sparkling wine, the Pinot Meunier adds full and rich sensations while the small addition of Chardonnay gives a refreshing finish. To the vintage wine, a 20-30% of vin de reserve is then added, which contributes to the final complexity of the Champagne. Once ready, the sparkling base undergoes re-fermentation in the bottleaccording to the Champenoise Method, with at least 30 months of aging on the lees before the degorgement and dosage demi-sec at 45 g/l of residual sugars.
The Demi-Sec Champagne ‘Ice Imperial’ by Moët & Chandon has a deep golden yellow color with amber hues, with fine bubbles. On the nose, intriguing aromas of tropical fruit, peach, pink grapefruit, raspberry, and blood orange are perceived, combined with sweet hints of caramel, powdered sugar, and small pastries. On the palate, the moderate sweetness is balanced by excellent freshness, characteristics enhanced by the elegant effervescence. Pleasant is the aftertaste of bitter almond on the finish. ‘Ice Imperial’ represents the first Champagne designed to be enjoyed with a few ice cubes on warm summer evenings.
