Champagne Nature Grand Cru 'Shaman' Marguet
The Champagne Extra Brut “Shaman” is an elegant, complex and deep expression of Ambonnay Grand Cru, produced with vinification with indigenous yeasts withoiut added sulphites in barriques, then in bottle on the lees for at least 24 months. Perfumes of candied fruits, citrus fruits, dried fruits and bread crust animate a smooth, fresh, long and creamy flavour
The Extra Brut “Shaman” is a Champagne that originates from one of the most important Grand Crus of the entire denomination, that of Ambonnay. It is here that the Marguet house cultivates the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from which this label is born, intense and multifaceted on the nose and velvety on the palate. A certified biodynamic bubble, rewarding the path taken by Benoît Marguet, the young owner of the winery who fits into the trend of new Champagne vignerons, characterized by a modern and unconventional vision.
This Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne “Shaman” originates from a blend where, alongside 76% Pinot Noir, we also find a percentage of Chardonnay. The clusters of these two varieties come from old vines, which grow within the Grand Cru of Ambonnay following principles of biodynamic agriculture. Once harvested by the Marguet house team, the grapes undergo the first fermentation in wooden vats, spontaneously, thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts. The second fermentation then takes place, as per the rules for the production of Metodo Champenoise, in the bottle, where the wine rests on the lees for 24 months. After the disgorgement and dosage operations, the Champagne is bottled without the addition of sulfites.
The “Shaman” is an Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne that, in the glass, presents itself with a typically straw-yellow color, slightly tending towards golden. The bubble texture is fine, and has good longevity. The array of aromas enveloping the nose orchestrates fruity and citrus notes, enriched by touches that recall the yeasts. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, broad and embracing, with a sip characterized by a pleasant freshness and an enchanting creaminess; it finishes with a finale of excellent persistence. A label with which the Marguet house confirms its artisanal vision in the production of the most famous bubble in the world.
