The Chardonnay from San Michele Appiano is a white wine that partially undergoes malolactic fermentation and rests for a few months in steel. Intense and fruity on the nose. Fresh, juicy, and persistent on the palate. A wine of excellent drinkability

Chardonnay is a white wine that, for the San Michele Appiano winery, plays a special role. Until the end of the 1970s, in fact, Chardonnay in Alto Adige was used in very small percentages in blends based on Pinot Bianco. A grape variety that was not much considered, which was vinified in purity for the first time in 1982, precisely thanks to the work done by San Michele Appiano. Since then, this international variety has had a great rise, and today the winery offers it with a typically varietal label, featuring a persistent sip.

The Chardonnay wine made by the San Michele Appiano winery comes from the homonymous grapes, cultivated in vineyards exposed to the southeast and southwest, located at an altitude between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, around the municipalities of Appiano and Caldaro. The yields per hectare are about 70 hectoliters, and the terroir is characterized by a gravelly component, where there is a significant presence of limestone. The grapes, harvested during the month of September, ferment in steel, partially undergoing malolactic fermentation.Always in steel the wine then rests for a few months, until the bottling operations are carried out.

This Chardonnay San Michele Appiano is a white wine that, in the glass, announces itself with a bright hue, reminiscent of straw yellow, crossed by light shades that tend more towards greenish at the rim. The olfactory spectrum is structured on intense sensations of ripe white-fleshed fruit and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is light-bodied, slim and agile, with a pleasantly smooth sip, presenting a fresh texture that enhances the drink; it finishes with a good persistent finale. A bottle with which the San Michele Appiano winery gives us the perfect wine for an evening based on fish.
