Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard's Chardonnay Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Caillerets" comes from a particularly vocated parcel of the estate, which covers a total of 12 hectares located in the communal terriors of Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Pommard. The vineyards are conducted with extreme care and the wines are produced in the traditional way, according to an ancient savoir-faire that rests on the experience of five generations. The grapes come from a parcel located in the lieu-dit Vigne Derrière, cultivated within the Premier Cru "Les Caillerets," characterized by the presence of limestone soils rich in pebbles and crushed stone. White, shallow soils, very well suited to the needs of Chardonnay. The vines are about 55 years old and face southeast. The best bunches selected during the harvest are pressed softly and the must ferments using only indigenous yeasts. Before bottling, the wine ages for 12-18 months in French oak barrels, 30-40% new.
