The Chianti Classico “Argenina” from Podere il Palazzino is a powerful yet pleasant red, born from the lands around Gaiole in Chianti. Floral aromas, then red fruit and orange, with tertiary hints on the finish leave intriguing and entice the sip. On the palate, it is warm, with vibrant freshness, great elegance, and long persistence. A Chianti dressed for the evening but that does not falter in front of a barbecue among friends, or a wild boar stew

“Argenina” from Podere Il Palazzino is the creation that evokes the image of an enchanted location, one of the oldest origin villages of the town of Monti in Chianti, the most populous fraction of Gaiole. Dating back to 998 AD, it appears today beautifully restored and home to high-level reception activities, completely surrounded by vineyards, including the plot of the Sderci brothers. The absolutely classic graphics of the label directly recalls the ancient medieval and Renaissance events, of which this portion of Tuscany is steeped.

Podere il Palazzino produces its “Argenina” from pure Sangiovese grapes that come from the 3 hectares of the plot located around the ancient village of Argenina, with replanting dating back to the early 2000s. The land is situated at 310 meters above sea level, with a slope that exposes the vines along a wedge that opens from southeast to southwest. The territory of the Monti del Chianti represents the eastern border of ChiantiClassico, along the contiguous Valdarno, is characterized mainly by the presence of sandstone, in addition to a certain percentage of galestro which represents the geological element peculiar to the entire denomination. The harvest is carried out manually and the winemaking operations are aimed at preserving the aromatic heritage and the territoriality of the grapes: fermentation by indigenous yeasts takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures and malolactic fermentation also occurs spontaneously. After racking, the Sangiovese is transferred several times, then placed in aging in small oak barrels for about 11 months.

The Chianti Classico “Argenina” from Podere Il Palazzino presents itself dressed in a beautiful intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. The aromas strike the nose with varied facets: immediately recognizable are the flowers and red fruits, such as peony and ripe cherry, along with a fresh citrus note of orange peel. Toasted nuances emerge clearly in the notes of cocoa and coffee, with hints of tobacco and spicy references in the finish. The tasting revealsan elegant Sangiovese, well represented by a vibrant freshness and a firm and harmonious tannin: hints of ripe pulp introduce a persistent and beautifully fine finish.
