Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Meleto 2021
Artisanal
Callmewine's FavouritesThe Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Meleto is a rich and enveloping red wine, aged for about two years in French and Slavonian oak barrels. Full and soft on the palate, with a long and persistent finish accompanied by silky tannins, on the nose it expresses notes of ripe red fruit, aromatic herbs, and hints of spices and pepper due to the long aging in wood. Perfect to pair with aged cheeses or flavorful dishes based on meat and game
The Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Meleto is the emblem of the oenological exceptionalism of Tuscany, a symphony of taste that captures the essence of this land. With production localized in the heart of Chianti, Castello di Meleto is known precisely for its privileged position, crossed by the Massellone stream, and for the variety of its soils, which extend up to 600 meters above sea level. These peculiarities make the wine very fresh and complex, a spokesperson for the colors and flavors of this refined region.
The Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Meleto is the result of a careful selection of the best Sangiovese grapes, accompanied by a small percentage of Merlot, coming from the vineyards of Casi, Meleto, Poggiarso, Moci, and San Piero. The harvest, carried out by hand, is followed by a double selection of the bunches, both in the vineyard and on the sorting table, ensuring the highest quality. The aging takes place for 21/24 months, half in Slavonian oak barrels of 30 hL and half in French oak barrels of 50.hL, giving the wine elegance and structure. This artisanal approach, respectful of tradition, allows for the best preservation of the organoleptic characteristics of the territory and the grape varieties.
The Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Meleto presents an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections as it ages. On the nose, it reveals seductive aromas of violet, cherry, and berries, enriched by spicy notes. On the palate, it is round and velvety, with thick but soft tannins, and a persistent and intense finish. This wine pairs splendidly with traditional Tuscan first courses, such as pasta with meat sauce, but finds its perfect match with aged cheeses, like pecorino. Thanks to the freshness provided by the altitudes and temperature excursions of the hills of Gaiole in Chianti, and the mineral sapidity of the rocky soils, this wine embodies the authenticity and elegance of Tuscan winemaking tradition.
