Cotes Catalanes 'Mar i Muntanya' Domaine de l'Horizon 2023
ArtisanalThe Cotes Catalanes "Mar i Muntanya" from the French winery Domaine de l'Horizon is a juicy and fun red wine perfect for pairing with meat dishes. It is made with a blend of carefully selected Grenache and Syrah and aged for 18 months in barrique. The intense ruby red color introduces aromas of red fruits and spices while the palate enjoys an elegant and long sip.
The Cotes Catalanes ‘Mar i Muntanya’ represents a label with a vibrant and juicy taste created by Domaine de l'Horizon, inspired by Gamay from Beaujolais. Domaine de l'Horizon is a true enological gem of the wine region of Roussillon, in the eastern Pyrenees, founded by the eclectic Thomas Teibert and now skillfully managed by his student Emmanuelle Maltas. Embracing the principles of biodynamic agriculture, the estate produces surprisingly fresh, refined, and dynamic interpretations of the territory, just like the ‘Mar i Muntanya’, which contrasts with the warm and structured character of most wines from the region.
‘Mar i Muntanya’ Cotes Catalanes Domaine de l'Horizon comes from a blend of Granche Noir and Syrah grown following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture on limestone and schist soils. The harvest is done entirely by hand, and the bunches are vinified through semi-carbonic maceration and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. Once the fermentation process, the mass is aged for 18 months partly in oak barrels and partly in cement tanks.
To the eye, the Cotes Catalanes ‘Mar i Muntanya’ from Domaine de l'Horizon shows an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. Rich and broad is the olfactory panorama, described by intense sensations of red fruits and bramble flowers accompanied by lively and pleasant spicy nuances. On the palate, it is juicy and elegant, fresh and long, with a soft tannin that anticipates the tasty distinctly fruity epilogue. This is a red wine of exceptional versatility in food-wine pairing, ideal to serve with roasted or grilled white and red meats, but also with first courses seasoned with porcini mushrooms.
