Crozes Hermitage Domaine Alain Graillot 2023
The Crozes Hermitage from the Rhône Valley winery Domaine Alain Graillot is a Syrah that fully expresses the character of the terroir. The whole cluster vinification takes place in steel tanks, while the aging is carried out in used oak barrels for 12 months. Juicy and balanced, the nose reveals aromas of blueberry and currant accompanied by spicy hints of pepper and licorice.
The Crozes Hermitage from Domaine Alain Graillot is born in the heart of the alluvial plain of La Roche-de-Glun, which produces wines with body and character. Maxime and Antoine Graillot are now at the helm of the winery after their father Alain passed on all his knowledge and passion for a conscious and genuine wine production. Today they cultivate about 18 hectares of land, pursuing a philosophy of excellence and authenticity for quality wines with rare goodness. The cultivation regime is organic, fully respecting the natural stages of development and growth of the plants and ensuring a raw material that encapsulates all its goodness and potential.
The pure Syrah grapes of the Crozes Hermitage from Domaine Alain Graillot grow mainly in a predominantly continental climate with hot and humid summers and winters with cold temperatures. The soil is mainly composed of granite and metamorphic rocks that reflect their characteristics entirely in the final product. The rape harvest is done manually and in the winery, spontaneous fermentation occurs thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts; subsequently, malolactic fermentation also takes place. It ages for 12 months in second-pass oak barrels.
The intense ruby red color of the Crozes Hermitage from Domaine Alain Graillot immediately catches the eye. The nose is flooded with aromas of Bosc fruits, hints of black pepper, and herbal notes on the finish; on the palate, it is balanced and elegant, juicy with good persistence that invites glass after glass. It pairs perfectly with traditional French meat cuts, braised red meat, and vegetarian dishes; interesting with aged cheeses. An excellent product to keep in your personal cellar for family lunches during the holidays or for winter evenings by the fireplace, savoring it slowly to discover a unique and genuine product.
