Domaine Alain Graillot
Alain Graillot is a proud and convinced character, who founded the eponymous Domaine in 1985 in the Rhône Valley, on the plain of La Roche-de-Gun. After studying as an agrochemical engineer, Alain returned to his land in the '80s and decided to follow the great dream of becoming a wine producer. Today Alain has chosen to dedicate himself to wine consulting for some wineries, while his sons, Maxime and Antoine, have taken the reins of the company, following the valuable teachings of their father and carrying on the historic family tradition. The Domaine cultivates the classic varieties of the area, Syrah, Marsanne, Rousanne, and Viognier, in one of the most historic and important regional AOCs: the Crosez-Hermitage. In fact, the winery has a vineyard area of over 22 hectares, with some vineyards on the hill of Hermitage and Saint-Joseph. The philosophy of the winery is aimed at maximum respect for the territory, with a focus on environmental issues.
The vineyards of Domaine Alain Grillot are rooted in clayey soils with a good sandy, gravelly, and pebbly component. While in the vineyard the use of chemicals is minimized, in the winery a methodical approach is used, characterized by whole cluster fermentation, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation at controlled temperatures in steel tanks, and aging for at least a year in old oak barrels from Burgundy.
The wines of Domaine Alain Grillot faithfully reflect the territory of origin and tell all its nuances. They are deep and clean, elegant and intense, endowed with momentum and juiciness, but defined by a refined and harmonious balance. These are unique and recognizable bottles, with great territorial expressiveness expressed through a unique and crystalline class. A reference point for the entire denomination that every year finds more and more appreciation among enthusiasts and critics!
