The Crozes-Hermitage ‘Saint Jaimes’ from Domaine Les 4 Vents is a complex and deep Syrah capable of satisfying the senses. The foundations of the production philosophy of the family-run Domaine Les 4 Vents emphasize maximum respect for the health of the soil, plants, and the environment in general, pursued through the adoption of organic and biodynamic practices, as well as through the enhancement of the most authentic character of the terroir, a value sought with simple yet precise vinifications that exclude the use of invasive additives and enological aids. All this to unleash the great qualitative potential of the Crozes-Hermitage territory with its chosen grape varieties, Syrah first and foremost.
The ‘Saint Jaimes’ Crozes-Hermitage Rouge Domaine Les 4 Vents comes from only Syrah grapes grown on sandy, clayey, and pebbly soils following the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The vines are between 30 and 40 years old and, after manual harvesting, the clusters are fermented for 30% whole. The Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by about 30 days of skin maceration, while the subsequent aging period lasts for 14 months and takes place for half of the mass in steel and for the remaining part in used 600-liter oak barrels.
In the glass, the Crozes-Hermitage Domaine Les 4 Vents ‘Saint Jaimes’ is dark ruby red with purple hues. The olfactory panorama is described by aromas of berries and bramble flowers that combine with elegant notes of leather, licorice, pepper, olive paste, and various spices. Full-bodied and smooth on the palate, soon tempered by the pronounced fresh-salty component and the appetizing tannic structure. Long on intense fruity and spicy sensations.
