Cyclus White Avondale 2017

The “Cyclus White” by Avondale is a South African white wine that tells the story of the Paarl territory through a blend of white grapes: Chardonnay, Semillon, Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, and Viognier. All of these are grape varieties of French origin that have found a new home in the New World and express themselves at very high quality levels. The spiral that stands out on the label embodies the concepts of dynamism, cyclicality, and vital energy that the grapes assume in this territory. These grapes have the ability to integrate perfectly into a balanced blend that pulses with energy, but also to evolve and change based on what the vintage offers. This concept represents one of the highlights of Avondale's philosophy, which is to represent the territory through wines with all the shades and moods that the vintage provides. It all starts from a great respect for the territory and a strong sensitivity towards environmental issues. For this reason, the use of herbicides and chemical products in the vineyard is absolutely banned.

The wine “Cyclus White” is consists of Chardonnay (25%), Roussanne (25%), Chenin Blanc (20%), Viognier (20%), and a small part of Semillon (10%). The vines are cultivated using organic methods and without the use of synthetic products, such as insecticides, pesticides, or herbicides. In the winery, Avondale's belief includes spontaneous fermentations carried out by indigenous yeasts naturally present on the skins. The winemaking takes place in oak barrels and terracotta amphorae. The aging occurs in the same containers and lasts about 12 months.

Avondale “Cyclus White” presents itself in the glass with a dense straw-yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose, an elegy of tropical and exotic fruit, with elegant floral notes of violet, hints of white-fleshed fruit like peach and apple, and finally finds refreshment in notes of almond hull and balsamic nuances. The sip surprises with its breadth and richness, revealing a creamy and almost aromatic consistency, with a pleasant combination of freshness and enveloping softness.
