The Dogliani Superiore 'San Matteo' Magnum by Eraldo Revelli is the result of careful and rigorous production from the selection of the grapes of Dolcetto in the cellar, done by hand at the time of harvest. A wine with a strong personality, deep and austere that tells its story with its fine and dry sip, perfectly representing the incredible vocation for viticulture of the territory and its farmers.

The Dogliani Superiore “San Matteo”, from the Eraldo Revelli winery, is a pure Dolcetto that expresses the best characteristics of the grape variety, cultivated in one of the most vocated areas. The name refers to the place where it is born, a vineyard located next to a small church dedicated to San Matteo. It is, in every sense, a true estate cru, which has always been known for the excellent quality of its grapes. To preserve the rich fruity profile, the winemaking is still done with artisanal care and the partial aging in wood softens the wine, while leaving intact the immediacy and fragrance typical of the grape. A wine of great territorial typicity, a true ambassador of the Dogliani area and its principal grape variety.

The “San Matteo” is a Dogliani Superiore that is the result of the experience of a local reality that has been cultivating vines and producing wine for three generations. The Eraldo Revelli winery was founded in 1931 and manages an estate in the hilly area of BelvedereLanghe, not far from Dogliani. The mild climate and the soils composed of clay-limestone marls create an ideal habitat for Dolcetto, an indigenous red grape variety. The Vigna San Matteo is about 35 years old and is located at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level, with a south-west exposure. The manual harvest takes place in early October, and the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration on the skins lasting about ten days. The wine matures for 6 months in steel tanks and large wooden barrels.

The Dogliani Superiore by Eraldo Revelli “San Matteo” is a splendid version of the most typical wine of the area. It is the classic red that has always been a staple on Piedmontese tables. It is no coincidence that it possesses extraordinary versatility and pairs very well with many dishes of regional cuisine. It captivates the eye with a beautiful dark ruby color with youthful violet reflections. Intense and rich, it expresses an aromatic profile characterized by aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry, berries, sour cherry, plum, floral hints of violet, and delicate notes of soft spices. Full-bodied, it has a dense and elegant tannic structure, enveloped by a rich and satisfying fruit. The finish is harmonious and balanced, with good taste persistence.
