"Zero," the Alta Langa from the Enrico Serafino winery, is certainly a name to remember in the panorama of Alta Langa DOCG. This designation, recognized in 2010, arises from the cultural need to revalue areas dedicated to cultivating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Imposing very high-quality requirements, the Alta Langa DOCG quickly becomes a reference for Italian sparkling wines worldwide. The winery is a historic entity that has existed since the late nineteenth century. In addition to producing classic wines from Roero and Langhe, it has also ventured into sparkling wines in recent years with great passion and truly remarkable results.
Alta Langa "Zero" by Serafino is predominantly produced from Pinot Noir grapes, with a lower percentage of Chardonnay grapes. These grapes come from three vineyards located 400 and 550 meters above sea level on limestone and clay soils. After harvesting and selection, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, and fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Following the second fermentation in the bottle, it then spends 60 months resting on the lees, and no dosage is added, only the base wine.
"Zero" by Enrico Serafino is a classic method sparkling wine with a lively and brilliant straw-yellow colour, featuring a fine and persistent perlage, and is incredibly smooth. The olfactory sensations embrace a wide range, from floral notes of linden to fruity notes of ripe white pulp, passing through sweet hints of honey and ending with fragrant nuances of bread crust. Despite Enrico Serafino being part of the Campari brand for about ten years, a visit to the Canale headquarters is enough to understand that this company has a long history. The Alta Langa Zero is a brut with a pleasant structure sweet and soft tones, balanced by good acidity. For once, even "zero" holds great value!
