Baricci's Brunello di Montalcino is an intense and structured red wine, matured for 36 months in large casks. A Brunello with a classic and traditional profile, juicy, ample and captivating, endowed with vigour and a beautiful freshness, rich with hints of ripe red fruit and spices
Baricci's Brunello di Montalcino was born in the most renowned Tuscan area in the world for the production of red wines of unparalleled quality. Nello Baricci opened his business in 1955 and, with the help of his wife Ada, began cultivating the surrounding land, well aware of the potential of each individual plot. In 1967, he founded the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino together with a number of producers in the area and officially in 1971 his first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino saw the light of day. In the years to come, daughter Graziella joined the company and with her husband and two sons Francesco and Federico gave new prestige to the winery, thanks to modern winemaking techniques and a marked attention to nature and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards. In 2012, Tommaso was born, representing the future potential of the Baricci family's work.
Baricci's Brunello di Montalcino vineyards are located on the Montosoli hill, one of the most prestigious and ancient Cru of Montalcino. The exposure is south/south-west, an ideal condition for the sun's rays to hit the rows for a good part of the year, guaranteeing excellent ripening of the grapes. Intervention in the vineyard is reduced to a minimum and the use of pesticides, herbicides and synthetic chemicals is avoided in conjunction with traditional and ancient working methods. Harvesting is conducted manually; alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel for 20 days thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. It matures 36 months in Slavonian barrels.
To the eye, Baricci's Brunello di Montalcino appears a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The aromas are those of red berry fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and currants in combination with sweet spicy hints; in the mouth it is enveloping, elegant and with a calibrated structure for an intriguing drinking experience goblet after goblet. Perfect with traditional Tuscan red meat stews and grilled meats, local game and first courses with elaborate sauces; also interesting with mature sheep's milk cheeses. Excellent to be sipped slowly during evenings characterised by conviviality, rediscovering ancient and forgotten flavours.
